South Africa: "No legal guns sold since July"

We've said it before, but it bears repeating: Gun and gun owner licensing laws are only useful for keeping firearms out of the hands of law-abiding citizens. Witness South Africa where a new licensing scheme has made sure that no legal guns have been sold since July. (The story doesn't mention how sales of illegal weapons have been going!) This is not only violating the rights of South Africans, it threatens to bite a chunk out of the SA economy. 10,000 foreign hunters, mostly Americans, visit SA each year. They and their money are liable to go elsewhere as SA authorities have been turning some away and confiscating guns form others.
